Mixed Media is a great way to capture the nuances of florals and help you find your own creative voice. In this workshop you will be able to free yourself up, let go of your inhibitions and respond personally to what is in front of you. Through a series of exercises, you will explore colour, rhythm, and composition, as well as playing with different combinations of materials and techniques. During the afternoon you will be able put into practice the techniques you have been experimenting with, composing a final artwork to take home.

No experience necessary for this short course on watercolours. We will look at the different paints and papers available, which brushes do what, and how to mix the paint, creating colour wheels. We will look at how to achieve washes and paint simple skies. All materials provided.

Group Project - Joint Picture
Tuesday 29th July and 5th August
7.00 - 9.00p.m. (2 session course).

In this short 4 hour course each student will be given a section of a painting to enlarge and reproduce. Once painted they will be reassembled to create one wonderful masterpiece!

Abstracting the Landscape

Have you ever wanted to paint abstract landscapes but weren’t quite sure where to begin? This workshop will help you look afresh, distil, and simplify. Using photographs of the local countryside, we will start to explore ways into abstraction and begin generating lively, dynamic compositions inspired by the beautiful landscape around Hinckley.
We will start with some fun mark-making exercises in a variety of media, followed by
a series of line and tonal studies, and finally connect our ideas using colour. During the afternoon we will begin to combine ideas, working in colour and capitalising on the morning’s exercises.

Modern Calligraphy Taster

You will be able to practice using the handout sheets and then use your new found skill to create a personalised wreath sample that you can take home. Suitable for right or left handed students.

During this full day workshop Kevin will teach you how to prepare the block, transfer your image, cut the surface away, mix and ink and block, register and print.
